Frequently Asked Questions

What the heck is that animal in the upper right hand corner of your site? And why is it there?

It's a wombat; a burrowing marsupial native to Australia and Tasmania. They grow to about thirty inches in length, weigh up to eighty pounds, and come in three varieties. There's the common or naked-nosed wombat (seen above), the Northern Hairy Nosed Wombat (nearly extinct and sadly not seen much at all anymore), and the Southern Hairy Nosed Wombat (easily seen at the San Diego Zoo, or by clicking here).

It's there because we like wombats.*

OK, but what does a wombat have to do with web design?

Maybe nothing. Maybe everything.

What is your hourly rate for web work?

We typically don't work on an hourly rate. We price our jobs on a project basis. That way you know exactly what the project is going to cost before we begin. We thereby avoid situations where your entire budget has been used up, and we're only halfway done. Sometimes, things take longer than we anticipate, for any number of reasons. If those reasons aren't your fault, we don't think you should have to pay more. It's our responsibility to complete the job for the price we agreed on.

When we give you our proposal, we spell out what we're going to do for you, how the site will be put together, what features it will have, etc. We agree to build what we've said we would build at the price we quote.

If at some point during the project you decide to add to the requirements, and that adds significantly to the time it will take us, we will negotiate any additional fees in good faith beforehand. We don't think there should ever be any nasty surprises in a final bill.

* The wombat is also present because without it this site would have been rather sterile, and we felt we needed something to balance the logo on the left. In a good design, every element is there, and is where it is, for a reason.
